30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child
Calling the document “a landmark achievement”, the Secretary-General attended an event to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the most “widely ratified human rights treaty in history.” Highlighting that many millions of children around the world face poverty, violence and exclusion, he urged leaders to sign a global pledge to reaffirm their commitment to the Convention. “For every child, every right,” the Secretary-General concluded.
