After years of preparation, months of negotiations, hundreds of side events and the participation of tens of thousands of people from across the globe, the Rio+20 conference on sustainable development is expected to wrap up on Friday!
The plenary session continues at 10 a.m. with statements by Member States, followed by the adoption of the outcome document and close of the conference. All statements and the closing session will be webcast live.

In the morning, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will meet with representatives of the People’s Summit.
At 2 p.m. the Secretary-General will be joined by senior UN officials, and private sector and civil society representatives for the closing press briefing of the conference: “Actions for the Road Ahead: Commitments Made at Rio+20.”
Speakers will present a summary of commitments which – on the eve of the closing day – had reached well over 500 in number.
The week will be rounded off with a “New Earth Concert” on Friday night in Rio’s Lapa neighbourhood.
